How To Color Block

I've been color blocking since about 2009 -just didn't know there was a name for it. Color blocking can be a bit overwhelmed for most but it's really easy and there's also baby steps you can take. Pair color blocking with black to short of calm it down as I did below or use more toned down colors. Now is the perfect time to start -seeing that it's Spring. We all know Spring is all about the colors. (Shop my look below using the descriptions)!

Are you a fan of color blocking or is it too much for you?!

What The ELLE?!

It's been awhile since I've finished one of my favorite books, 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' I am now reading one of my favorite mags, 'Elle' -which just happens to have the brilliant Solange gracing the cover in her bubble trench taking me back to the 90's ("bubble jacket"). As fun as it is reading fashion magazines it's also refreshing, which is something my wardrobe needs! There's a few pieces, colors and textures that I want to add to my style and this issue is just what my wardrobe needs!

What magazine/book are you currently flipping through?

Keep It Clean

Building an outfit around a staple piece to me is one of the most important things in style. To find one core item and creating a masterpiece from there is fun yet it challenges you to be the best you. My favorite piece to build with is the classic white tee. It gives a clean effortless look and gives the illusion that you tired even if that tee was hanging on the back of your computer chair because you wore it the day before. Ladies as much as some of y'all love showing off the girls with the V-neck shirt, the crew neck is the better choice. It's classy and goes with anything from a pencil skirt to sweat pants - it just works! (Click the links under items and start shopping).

Avoid Trending Pieces

When it comes to shopping whether you're on a budget or not -shop smart! We tend to get a little too excited and go crazy while shopping and find ourselves standing in line with arms full of clothes we don't need. When it comes to trendy pieces but careful! Make sure you'll be able to wear it after the trend dies down and most importantly make sure you'll still love it! Items that are trending tend to be a bit more pricey than those that are not. I mean I understand... people flock toward items that everyone's wearing for some strange reason so why not hike up the price. Any who, just keep in mind to be smart and also remember you don't have to throw out big bucks to slay darlin'!

P.S ..purchase pieces that are trending here and there -never make your entire wardrobe a trend!

17 Must Have Spring Pieces

I love Spring but I'm not into all the Spring prints -the florals and tie dye is not for me. I prefer to wear solid Spring colors and maybe incorporate a bit of prints in my accessories. This post is for people who like calm spring fashion like me. You want to wear your pinks, yellows, and blues but in a more settled way. Click descriptions for direct links and start shopping.

Are you like me or do you like printed bright pieces during Spring?!

How To Style Pearls And Sweats Pants

As some of you may know I love pairing pieces together that don't necessary go together, I.e loafers and a hockey jersey, sweat pants and loafers or in today's case pearls and sweat pants. Some things you rarely see people wear, if at all, yet they just work together so well. Today was a relaxed day, had a few errands to run and then to visit family. I just threw on a pair of sweats and a crew neck (after ironing of course) and out the door I went. Down below you can shop my look by clicking on the descriptions.

Women In The Men's Section

Full denim will always be timeless like all black from head toe -you simply just can't go wrong. I few years ago I fell in love with solid colored outfits , its simple yet stylish. My go to when I can't think  of anything to wear (even with closets full of clothes) is an all black look but denim works just as well. The key to styling denim is using different shades of blue -gives it a nice contrast. A tip for shopping (if you love oversized pieces) -browse around the men's section for an oversized jacket/crew neck top and pair it with more form fitting pieces. With this look I style an oversized men's Levi jacket with a pair of fitted Levi 712 slim jeans. To complement the baggy jacket I threw on my "dad hat" with a backpack purse as opposed to a more feminine bag. Shop my look down below.

Do you love shopping in the men's department as much as I do?!
