Lazy Weekend Attire

Being a woman we have tons of issues from being bloated, extremely busy schedules, to our wonderful visitor every month to annoy us -our period. Now some of us have little to no symptoms from aunt "FLOW" then there's the rest of us who cramp to the extreme, bloat to the point we need maturity pants, and simply in pain from head to toe. During this time all I feel like doing is eating sweets and complaining oh and as much as I love fashion the last thing I want to do is get dressed.

Yesterday I was sick but wanted to get out of the house for a few hours and this is the look I literally threw on (slowing because girl you know we have to move in slow motion during our period!)

A baggy t-shirt and sweat pants perfect for the bloat and a simple pair of black loafers for a more casual vibe to mask my laziness.

5 Ways To Properly Read A Magazine

OK I must admit I used to flip through magazines just to look at the pictures -the dope trench coats, the seasons footwear, and what prints and shades were all the rage! Later I realized that pictures are nothing without words. The detail and wisdom that comes with the article on the previous page are essential.

Here's 5 ways to properly read a magazine:

  1. Overwhelmed - Don't get overwhelmed by all the pages and tiny black words. Embrace it and be ready to learn and be inspired!
  2. Read - Actually read the magazine, take it in and all it has to offer.
  3. The Power of Knowledge - learn something from every page. Take in the color schemes, the makeup, etc., and apply what you can to your wardrobe.
  4. Notes - Take notes. Write sticky notes on ideas and different looks you come up with and stick them right on the pages of the magazine.
  5. Reread - Magazines are like movies - you're going to miss something the first time. It's always a great idea to reread your magazine and while you're doing that you'll come across your notes and you'll be able to add to it if necessary.

AND THEN YOU'LL BE READY TO SLAY!

I hope you all were able to use my tips for magazine reading. How do you read magazines?

Slacks x Denim

We all love a good jean jacket. It's the perfect accessory and goes well with absolutely everything! With Fall approaching the days are still hot but the nights are going to start cooling down. I cant wait to see how everyone styles their denim jacket!  I've seen it styled the more sporty way with jeans and a pair of trainers and wanted to create a more causal option.

I finally feel like I'm finding my style again. For years I felt lost and just all over the place in fashion. I couldn't piece together outfits and the looks I managed to put together looked sloppy -didn't flow at all. It's tuff having a true love for something and then not knowing how to perfect it or even where to begin?! But I feel like I'm slowly but surely making a comeback!

How will you style your denim jacket this Fall?!

8 Forms of Procrastination

Grab your tea or a glass of red wine and enjoy a good read..

We all have our moments of distractions and bad habits of putting things off "until.." Some of us are perfectionists so things have to be "just right" -whatever that is. Even tough we notice we're not getting things done we continue to do these very unhealthy habits. Here are a few things you may be doing that goes unnoticed...

  1. SELF DOUBT - How will I be able to accomplish this?
  2. SOCIAL MEDIA - Starting your day off with social media is a bad idea! We start off looking at our favorite things and scroll, scroll, and scroll. Give yourself a time limit to be on social media (20 minutes).
  3. THE COMPANY YOU KEEP - Be sure the people around you aren't a distraction from your dreams and not only that but getting day to day things done. Be aware of the company you keep.
  4. TELEVISION - The T.V is one of the most popular distractions especially now that we have HULU, NETFLIX heck just a smart T.V in general. The television is just like social media, give yourself a time limit whether its 20 minutes or just watch one episode.
  5. MONEY - "I'll finish my book when I get a second job or at least more hours." "I'll chase my dreams when I get more money." "It's just too expensive to chase my dreams at the moment." Don't make excuses just go for it! Don't focus on not having enough money, focus on the big picture and focus on the future.
  6. RIGHT SPACE - Don't put off writing your book and/or sketching your clothing line for that perfect desk you spotted at IKEA last week or until you move into your new office space. Again just go for it now! Life is too short to put things off , you are not promised tomorrow.
  7. WHEN EVERY THING'S RIGHT - Please keep in mind nine times out of ten things will never be right. This is life we're speaking of here -one day every thing's perfect the next day it's a mess.
  8. THEIR LIFE - Focusing on the next persons life is something we should never do! Don't compare your life with theirs. Keep in mind what's for them is for them and what's for you is for you. Keep your eye on working hard to get to where you want to be in life.

In what ways do you find yourself procrastinating?

Fall Fever?

There's a ton of ways to prepare for the Fall -first I start with a good fashion mag. Yesterday I took a trip to my most favorite store to purchase magazines -Walgreen's. Now I normally go with a Vogue but this time I decided to switch it up and go with InStyle -I think Kerry Washington being on the cover had something to do with it? After you find your inspiration it's time to get your shop on! Head over to my latest blog post on how to shop on a budget just in time for Fall!

Fall Fashion On A Budget

With Fall just around the corner for some and a month or two away for me I decided about a week ago that it was time to go Fall shopping. Before blowing all my money at the mall I had to figure out my bills first. With car note, rent, and other bills but a sneeze away from being due I had to prioritize. After looking over my planner two to three times, making notes, and using my calculator app it was finally time to do what we all love -shop!

Here's a few things to keep in mind while preparing for Fall:

1. Save Money
2.  Buy One to Two Pieces At A Time
3. Recycle
4. Goodwill
5. Take Your Time

*SAVE MONEY - After going over your bills set aside fall fashion money.

*BUY ONE TO TWO PIECES AT A TIME - Seeing that it wouldn't be wise to spend all your money at once buy one or two essential pieces at a time. That way you'll have a little of your spending money left over.

*RECYCLE - As we all know fashion repeats itself so be sure to put most of your old pieces to good use.

*Goodwill - I've been shopping at the Goodwill for about six years now and depending on where you go you can find some really dope pieces and a lot of vintage pieces as well. It's very inexpensive and depending on what day you go mostly everything is on sell!

*Take Your Time - Don't rush into buying all your Fall wear at once -take your time. I love finding inspiration (Instagram), screenshot it and save it to a photo gallery I created in my phone under "Fall 2016" for my next pay day.

Last but not least just have FUN! Focus on your style not anyone else's -it is not a competition, just everyone playing dress up.

The Plaid Bomber

Bombers are supposedly making a comeback this Fall. I must admit I'm super excited about it seeing that I didn't get a chance to buy one last year. I found this green and blue bomber in the back of my closet (literally) -buried underneath a pile of clothes on the top shelf. I'm currently in the process of cleaning out my closet and making it a bit more organized. As I began to dig I found my jacket -just in time for Fall.

Will you be following the bomber jacket trend this year?

The Black Mule

Is there really a such thing as too much black? Is black from head to toe frowned upon? Well I guess for some it may be a bit too much. Some people feel black isn't for summer, but I don't follow any rules in fashion. I say wear black whenever, white after Labor Day, boots in the summer, hey just wear whatever the hell you want. The people who make up these rules aren't buying your clothes so why not wear whatever you spent your coins on?! In my opinion there's day's when black is just necessary and the more black the better. Different textures of black really add character, from denim to leather. I decided to add a pair of mules to my look with denim black shorts.

What's your advice on wearing solid colors?

Tommy Boy

A tomboy at heart would explain why I love shopping in the men's section, especially for button ups. Not only are they really comfy they set you apart from the crowd. I decided to add a pair of my favorite heels to soften up the look and thought a printed shirt paired with printed shoes would go great together -hey it's summer let's go print crazy guys!

How do you feel about mixing prints? How do you feel it should be done?

The Black Pursuit

One of my favorite colors to wear is black from head to toe. There's just something about black! I purchased this crew neck from H&M and it serves as a dress as well as a nice oversized shirt for those baggy clothes lovers such as myself. These forever 21 boots were perfect for creating this look.

What's your favorite color to wear head to toe?!
