"Do you have this in black?"

Why is it Sunday already?! What happened to that day between Saturday and Sunday that I ask for?! Some are watching the VMA's some are watching football...... as for me.... football!!!! Blogging and football on a Sunday does it get any better? Oh yes it does.....wine!!! I'll crack open my new bottle of Chardonnay after I post this.
Today I woke up around 10 a.m with the need to get out if the house! KoJo suggested we go to 'Taco Diner' in Dallas while googling the directions I saw 'Urban taco' and then googled pictures of their menu and decided to go with 'Urban Taco' since we've never visited before and might I say that was a great choice!
'Urban Taco' is located on McKinney Avenue A.K.A one of the best spots in Dallas. They have tons of things to do from shooting pool, yoga, restaurants, etc. McKinney Ave. is currently my favorite street in Dallas! This was kind of last minute but we made it work and of course before hitting the highway I had to shoot for a new blog post!

KoJo was going through some of his clothes and was going to get rid of this jersey...ah yeah no... I'll take that! As soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do with it. Love at first sight! Went with my coach bag, wedge heels, MAC's 'Cyber' & 'RiRi Woo' and Rimmel London nail polish.

...still sexy after over 20 years

 'Urban Taco'

Shrimp & Pineapple, Steak, & Al Pastor with black beans and green rice

Raspberry & Mint Cocktail

Tried Yucca Chips for the first time a little on the crunchy side but so yummy!

If you're ever in Dallas and on the hunt for a great taco joint to sit down and mingle this is it!

What's your favorite spot in Dallas?!

California Pizza Kitchen

Have you ever tried a frozen pizza that tastes nothing like frozen pizza? Yeah neither have I until I ran across this circle of deliciousness by the name of 'California Pizza Kitchen'!

As I was shopping at Wal-Mart for a box of Belgium Waffles in the freezer aisle and this bright yellow box caught my eye and it was love at first sight.

I went with a Crispy Thin Crust "white" pizza with a thin crust topped with ricotta cheese, garlic, garlic sauce, and leafy green spinach. It has no artificial flavors and preservative free crust. This pizza is so tasty and very light - I literally had to stop myself from eating the whole thing!

It's going to take me a while to get over the fact that this is a frozen pizza! One bite and you'll question all the other frozen pizza's! Sometimes I like to pair my pie with a glass of white wine.

There's tons of hand-tossed pizzas to choose from: "California Style White", BBQ Recipe Chicken w/ bacon", "Margheritta", "Sicilian Recipe", "Pepperoni", etc.

Visit California Pizza Kitchen online!

To Read or Not To Read?!

I read Jonathan Safran Foer's lovely book 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close' for the first time in 2013 after first watching the film which was so so good but not as good as the book of course! Jonathan's words and the way he forms a sentence is just flawless and in a way I've never seen before. Being a poet I just love his choice of words and he mind is simply stunning.

If you haven't had the opportunity to give this a read it's a novel about a young boy in search of a lock in New York City after finding a key in his father's closet oh and his imagination along the way is just awesome! This book is the very reason I started writing my book that is still in the works due to a strong case of writers block!

I've been thinking about this book for some time now so I took a trip to the library last week to pick it up. The latest book I read was Maya Angelou's 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings' which I loved and my next read will probably be 'Everything Is Illuminated' by Jonathan Safran Foer or Stephen Kings 'Big Driver'?

'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close' is a MUST read!

What book are you currently reading?

What Diet?!

O.k just to clear the air women are allowed to eat whatever they please when aunt flow is in town! That's just the way it is. Don't ask questions, judge us....just be quiet or we'll eat you too!

Everywhere you turn on Instagram someone's talking about fitness. What we should eat, drink, and heck even wear (waist trainers). As inspiring as some of the pages are lets face it we ALL slip up and eat 4-5 slices of thin crust pizza or a pie for breakfast oh and the worst....you're the car with someone and they want to stop and grab a bite to eat and it just happens to be 'In & Out Burger'! I mean  who can say no to that?!

With me someone always wants donuts when I'm eating right, always! Speaking of eating "right" I do think we should all eat our fruits and veggies and buy wheat this and wheat that, but sometimes those things can be a bit pricey. So my main focus is DON'T GO BACK FOR SECONDS! *easier said than done right?!*

I'm small and have been all my life but my problem area (that didn't arrive until moving to Texas) is my midsection. My irritating stomach that bloats because it Tuesday 1:13 p.m! It does what it wants and not only that its accompanied by love handles. I still haven't figured out the "love" part!

I make sure I work my butt off but I am not one of those people who share only the "good things". I mess up at times by eating things I shouldn't and not exercising some days. No I don't feel bad when I have a cheat day on Tuesday when really my "eat whatever you want" day is Saturday. I don't throw a fit or lose any sleep. I just make sure I learn and continue to do better for ME.

I don't weigh myself or count calories it seems like a total waste of time to me. I know my goal and I don't need a scale or the back of a cardboard box to help me with that. But if you do weigh yourself and jot down calories that's fine do what makes you happy!

Make sure you do this for YOU. Don't tone up, lose weight, gain weight to make others happy because it's not about them! Keep inspirational people around you who will not only motivate you to be a better you but someone who will eat two boxes of Chick Fil A fries with you so you don't have to consume all the calories but be your wing man who will take on the calories with you!

Have a blessed day and remember do better today than you did yesterday!

O.O.T.D: Wine Boots

Sitting on my couch listening to Kanye's '808's & Heartbreak' I really forgot how brilliant this album was. It's not something that you listen to everyday or even bump in the car for that matter UNLESS it's at night! This album just gives me that night time vibe! If you're in the house after 6 pm on the weekend this album and some wine...what?! Or crusin' down the street going nowhere with the windows down on a cool summer night! This album is where it's at!! Ok sorry I just had a moment! I'm currently listening to 'Say You Will" OMG!!! This song, this song!! Especially the end! How Kanye let the beat ride out. Ok back to the topic at hand............
My favorite cousin in the whole wide world flew down here from Ohio to surprise his mother an drop off his daughter for about two weeks. Speaking of surprising ...my mom didn't know he wanted to surprise his mom so she told her he was flying down to visit (how do you say FAIL?!) So my mother and I drove him around so he could get a quick feel of Texas (if you've ever visited you know there is no such thing as a quick feel when it comes to Texas.)
OMG, so 'Pinocchio' just came on, Kanye killed this song! This man is a genius! "I just wanna be a real boy!" *sigh* brilliant!
Any way so we took him by 'The Highlands' and to the great 'In & Out Burger' so he could experience their delicious(ness) and what I told him were "monster fries" smh ...after going in there I heard the cashier say "Animal fries" lol! Another FAIL!
Here's what I decided to wear today.....
Decided to go with an all black number... plain black t-shirt, biker shorts, button down, my favorite black ballerina socks and a splash of color, my ALDO boots.

Ok enjoy the rest of your weekend guys! I think I'm going to finish this Chardonnay, watch some HULU and pop some popcorn. See my last post if you are in need of something to do to end your weekend.
Love y'all!

It's Monday already?! There really should be a day between Saturday and Sunday! I'm currently at my mom's house sitting on the porch (in the shade of course.) It's kind of muggy with a slight, slight breeze.

Over the weekend I did a bit of shopping (spending too much money.) I picked up a bottle of wine, a few things for my house and stopped at the library to pick up Jonathan Safran Foer' s 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close'. I read this book for the first time about to two years ago and had to re-read it! These things inspired me to post a "weekend blog".. something for you all to do for some much needed "me time"!

So grab your:

1) Favorite pajama shirt (no pants/shorts needed because that's how everyone should spend their weekend!)
2) Popcorn
3) A good book

I decided to go with the old school popcorn and a very unique choice of wine (I'll do a separate post with details). After reading I like to watch some Netflix, I'm currently watching 'Wet Hot American Summer' check previous post on my Netflix favs!

Poetry Session #1 | 'Queen'

Hey hey y'all! I can't believe it's Saturday already this month is going to fly by like July. Not many plans today I honestly just want to watch Netflix & Hulu while eating popsicles all day! Wait forget the popsicles ice cream and brownies sounds so much better, Mmm brownies... (Homer Simpson voice).

Anyway this post is a little different than normal.... time for some poetry y'all! So I've had writers block for about...well, let's just say I haven't written a good poem in years, like over three years!

But with 'Queen' I must say..... I'M BAAAACK! I wrote this poem yesterday while at work sitting at my desk. It really didn't take long at all I would've finished it faster if they didn't expect me to work geez how rude! Lol!

This poem is a message to women on how we should view ourselves. Of course there's a metaphor involved I mean this is poetry. I decided to deliver the message through a game of Chess.

I hope you all enjoy...

"Queen"

Natural beauty
Encasing the mentality
Of a bad -female dog
Today's women
More concerned
With his score
Than the soar
Of their own two feet
Right paw and left paw
Understand that you're a beast

And the words that fall
From their jaw
Utters hustle with no
Underground railroad
Black women
At the front of a bus
Eating Strange Fruit
Their hustle speaks
With no muscle

Know your power
The power you have to devour
Don't bend
In the presence of men
Know the strength
Of your backbone
They're just squares of 64
My Queen
You must think outside your box
Battle men chest to chest
In this life of chess
You're all that matters
Not a king
So protect your chest
That thing that lies
Beneath your breast

You can't rook a queen
Hell I rule at knight
I taught two bishops how move
Gave Jazz it's groove
Gave swing to mood
The Queen of checking...mates

A natural beauty
Diminished by a five letter word
As for me
That noun, you keep that
I school Kings and Pawns
You can't beat that
I'm dressed in black
The sister of Mary Mack
I just invented my own pitty pat.

Color Me Nude

Hey loves I just finished eating dinner (Homemade Pasta Salad w/ detox water) now I'm watching 'Wayward Pines' on Hulu and blogging of course. Now I don't know if you watch this show (I'm sure you do, I feel like the last person on earth to tune in) but it's amazing so far. I'm only on episode three and it has me sitting on the edge of my seat! I believe it comes on Thursdays at 9/8p but I'm not sure so go on fox for listings.

Here's a peek at my nude collection of lipsticks and nail polishes.

For someone like me having a nude collection is a must! I don't like wearing make-up all the time and nudes are perfect for those days. When it comes to a nail polish in this shade it gives a real clean touch to your look. I need to go shopping to add to my collection but I'm busy doing what we all love so much..............being an adult and taking care of important things *gag*!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
(from left to right) --> Kate Moss - Lasting Finish
"Bare It All" (I believe I purchased this lipstick at Walgreens)
L.A Colors nail Lacquer
Essie Matte "All Eyes On Nudes"
Alicia Silverstone for Juice Beauty (an organic lipstick)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My favorite lipstick out of the bunch is the second one of course! It's so smooth, doesn't dry out your lips and just the best shade of nude I've run across. When I find out where I bought it from I'll be sure to post!

What are some of your favorite nude lips?
